What to do if you lose your Emirates ID in Dubai, UAE - Makebiz

Emirates ID is a UAE resident ID card, which is important to have with you while in the country. Cases of losing the card are not uncommon, so it is worth studying the algorithm of behavior to find the ID in advance.

In case you did not immediately notice the loss, one of the random passers-by can give your ID card to the police officers. They will contact you at the number specified when registering the ID card. More often than not, an SMS with information about where to pick up the EID will come. However, you should not rely heavily on this outcome and, having noticed the loss, it is better to immediately take active measures. Otherwise, the card may end up in the hands of intruders.

First of all, the owner of a lost or stolen card should contact the Identity and Nationality Office and report the loss of the Emirates ID. This step involves deactivating the old card and re-issuing it, for which a government fee of around AED 500 must be paid (please check with the Authority for up-to-date information on the cost). To start the re-issuance process, you need to confirm your data and attach basic documents: passport and visa.

The standard timeframe for license readiness is 48 hours. You can pay for the express service and expect the card to be ready within 24 hours. Upon readiness, a corresponding SMS will be sent to the specified phone number.

If you have any questions related to visa and EID issuance or extension, you can contact Makebiz specialists. They will give you a free consultation and provide prompt and competent assistance at every stage.
