The United Arab Emirates has stormed to the top of the Henley Passport Index 2024, coming in at a respectable 9th position in the ranking. This is an impressive achievement that opens up new horizons for Emirati residents to travel without borders. They can now use their passport to seamlessly visit 185 countries around the world without obtaining an additional visa.

This success is the result of the UAE leadership’s deliberate and consistent policy to strengthen international relations and increase opportunities for the free movement of its citizens. Over the past 10 years, the Emirates has increased its position in the ranking by 46 points, demonstrating the dynamic development of its foreign policy and commitment to global integration.

In 2014, the UAE was ranked 55th, and already in 2024, they are among the top 10. This rapid advancement is the result of active work to establish diplomatic ties with various countries, as well as the implementation of a programme to simplify visa procedures.

Comparing the figures with neighbouring countries, the UAE’s significant progress can be seen. Saudi Arabia is at number 56 in the ranking, while Oman is at number 58, giving its citizens access to visa-free destinations to 86-88 countries.

The leader of the ranking at the moment is Singapore, whose citizens can freely visit 195 countries. It is followed by France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Germany, Italy and Spain, among others. At the opposite end of the ranking is Afghanistan (26 countries).

The UAE’s rise in the passport ranking is not just a statistical indicator, but a symbol of success and prosperity. It is evidence that the country is actively investing in its international reputation, endeavouring to create comfortable conditions for its citizens and attract foreign investment.

In addition to diplomatic efforts, the region is actively developing tourism and business, which also contributes to improving their international image. The improved visa regime attracts tourists and business travellers, which in turn stimulates the country’s economic growth and development.

Overall, the Emirates’ impressive success in the Henley Passport Index 2024 is the result of a comprehensive effort to improve the quality of life of its citizens and enhance the country’s international status. This success is a prime example of how dedicated policies and proactive actions can lead to impressive results.
