Violation of registration deadlines in FTA in Duba UAE - Makebiz

When starting a business in the UAE, it is important to know not only the amount of taxes to be paid and the reporting structure, but also the deadlines for registration.

On March 1, 2024, the Federal Tax Authority’s ruling on the deadlines for registering firms as a tax entity came into effect. The filing interval depends on the month of issuance of the operating license. The year of issuance in this case does not matter.

Due to the decision, companies whose permits were issued in January and February must register for a tax number no later than May 31, 2024.

Let’s hold the deadlines for licenses issued in other months:

  • March and April — by June 30;
  • May — by July 31;
  • June — by Aug. 31;
  • July — through Sept. 30;
  • August and September — by October 31;
  • October and November — through November 30;
  • December — until December 31.

A fine of AED 10,000 is expected for violation of the registration deadlines. The sanctions will only apply to companies whose registration was completed before the specified date.

There are a few exceptions for different types of businesses:

  • For companies established in the UAE from March 1, 2024 in freezones, the filing period is 3 months from the date of registration.
  • For companies established Since March 1, 2024 outside the Emirates but managed here filing is permissible within three months after the end of the financial year. If such a firm is incorporated earlier than March, the ruling on registration is possible within 9 months from the date of license.
